The Export Development Project by the World Bank has started providing matching grant to private sector enterprises. Can you tell us what matching grant is? 

SUCCESSFULLY ORGANIZED TRAINING TO PREPARE 12 NATIONAL TRAINERS OF "WORLD FEDERATION OF TOURIST GUIDE ASSOCIATION"

The Export development project has organized the training to prepare 12 national trainers of "World Federation of Tourist Guide Association" (www.wftga.org) with collaboration of the Mongolian Professional Tourist Guide Association by inviting Mrs. Iris Barry, an international senior trainer of the "World Federation of Tourist Guide Association".

THE EXPORT DEVELOPMENT PROJECT IS SUPPORTING TECHNOLOGISTS AND PROGRAMMERS OF WOOL AND CASHMERE PRODUCERS WITH “SHIMA SEIKI”TRAINING CENTER TO STRENGTHEN THEIR CAPACITY TO OPERATE ON KNITTING PROGRAMS

The Export Development Project has successfully organized the first training with “Shima Seiki training center" for cashmere technologists, programmers and engineers to address official requests and needs of Mongolian Wool and Cashmere Producers’ Association and over 20 SMEs in cashmere and wool production.

According to the statistics, in 2017, 87.8% of Mongolian total export was with the People’s Republic of China. Therefore, in order to assist Mongolian exporters and enterprises wishing to export, the Export Development Project is providing the unofficial translation of the “Food Safety Law” and “Customs Law” of the People’s Republic of China, the largest export market of Mongolia. 

DECISION IS MADE TO AWARD MATCHING GRANTS TO ENTERPRISES

On 26 April 2018, at its routine meeting the Evaluation Board reviewed the Export Development Plan (EDP) submitted by 7 enterprises and arrived at the decision to submit their proposals to the Ministry of Finance and the World Bank. Upon analyzing EDPs submitted by enterprises, the Matching Grant Facility provided a methodology for a further enhancement, and presented the satisfactory EDPs to the Evaluation Team for a decision of providing matching grants to SMEs.

THE GRADUATES OF 3 MONTH TRAINING ON FOREIGN TRADE MANAGER HAVE RECEIVED THEIR CERTIFICATES

Today, a ceremony has been held to present certificates to successful trainees of 3 month intensive training to prepare foreign trade manager, co-organized by the Export Development Project and Export Academy of the Market Research Institution.The main objectives of the training were to teach effective and appropriate methods to resolve challenges faced by foreign traders; provide skills and knowledge required by foreign trade managers in international level in short period of time; and prepare skilled foreign trade manager with theoretical and practical background for entities to strengthen their capacity. Employees of more than 20 entities have participated in the training and it was effective in providing a range of knowledge in short period of time such as foreign trade management and its payment methods; appropriate means of defining product and service costs and price; legal challenges in international trade; methods and techniques of foreign trade investment; business English and so on.

AN OPEN CONSULTATIVE MEETING WAS ORGANIZED AMONG BENEFICIARIES OF THE MATCHING GRANT

An open consultative meeting has been organized, inviting 38 entities that made matching grant agreement, for the purposes of sharing experience and lessons learnt during the implementation of Export Development Plan, encouraging cooperation among entities, and enabling information exchange about other benefits of the project.
